Beth Dodson

In high school, Beth worked for a construction company, assisting with payroll and accounting – and loved it. After earning her BS in accounting from UMD College Park, she chose a well-established accounting firm as her first job, working with the construction group. Eight years later, with the experience gained from accounting for construction contractors of every kind, she joined Hamel as controller.

Often going beyond her job description, Beth’s approach has been to constantly grow and apply her construction experience. She often mediates between accounting resources and the construction professionals who don’t always speak their language. She is not afraid to ask why owners and project managers ask for certain things, always interested in furthering her understanding of their perspectives, and of the nuances of the industry.

Beth’s team-oriented hands-on approach has made her a resource for everyone at Hamel, as she reviews project managers’ bills, follows up on payments, answers owner’s questions and helps the accounting team improve their technical skills. Her enthusiasm and dedication to her role, and to the industry, has become an ever-more valuable asset, helping everyone at Hamel be better at their jobs and add value for their clients.
