Hamel Scholar - Alex Dorsey

News | Published: October 10, 2019

Alex first heard good things about Hamel from his dad, Alex C. Dorsey, Project Manager at Hamel Builders.  Alex is a junior at the University of Tampa.  Once he has completed undergrad, Alex plans to attend grad school to study criminal law. Alex says his dad shared a few good news stories as well as acts of kindness offered to people, places and things by Hamel.   Now he is experiencing Hamel's generosity first-hand with the Ed and Fern Hamel Scholarship Fund.

During the school year in Tampa, Alex is a volunteer with Metropolitan Ministries, an outreach program helping people who may be homeless or struggling.  The goal of this outreach program is to help them get back on their feet, assist with computer skills, resume writing, etc.  He and his fraternity, Sigma Lambda Beta, also work closely with Tampa's Hispanic Heritage, a non-profit organization generating scholarships for high school students.

Alex says "Hamel is a very special company that takes an interest in its employees and their families as well. He is appreciative of all Mr. and Mrs. Hamel do for others.  They set a good example for all to follow."
