Assistant Project Manager - Raleigh, NC

Hamel Builders, Inc. is a respected, mid-Atlantic general contractor known for delivering complex, high-quality projects while fostering a collaborative, team-first culture. We’re currently seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager / Construction Manager to support the successful delivery of large-scale projects ranging from $40–$60 million.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys being involved in both field operations and project administration, working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and ownership teams from preconstruction through close-out.


What You’ll Do

You’ll play a key role in keeping projects moving efficiently, safely, and on budget by supporting the project team with:

  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of project schedules

  • Preparing and tracking RFIs, submittals, and change documentation

  • Conducting site visits to monitor quality, safety, and schedule compliance

  • Supporting implementation of site-specific safety plans

  • Preparing and submitting requisitions and change orders

  • Reviewing and approving invoices documentation alongside Superintendents

  • Assisting with project close-out documentation

  • Attending and actively participating in progress and requisition meetings


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting large-scale construction projects (multifamily, mixed-use, or commercial preferred)

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with field and office teams

  • Comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)

  • PMP certification (preferred)

  • Willingness to travel up to 50% as projects require

  • Currently based in or willing to relocate to Raleigh, NC area prior to start date
