2026 Summer Internship

Hamel Builders, Inc. is now accepting applications for its 2026 Summer Internship Program.  The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a trade, or an accredited two-year or four-year college or university with a focus in Construction Management or related field.

Summer interns will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of Construction Management supporting a crew and project team in the planning, scheduling and execution of construction projects in the Maryland/DC/Virginia area.  The internship is a full-time, paid position intended to provide an educational and professional development experience.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in the monitoring of construction progress and schedules
• Assist superintendents and engineering teams with cost estimating, document prep, the tracking of deliverables, and project close-out activities
• Understand the role and importance of safety in construction
• Process submittals and RFIs
• Coordinate workflow and activities of multiple trades
• Conduct walk-throughs and develop punch lists
• Interact with clients, architects and other partners
• Work with the design team through preconstruction
• Perform site visits with subcontractors and suppliers to understand multiple aspects of the construction industry
• Present a final project to the leadership team

Work Environment
